In the past our politicians offered us dreams of a better world. Now they promise to protect us from nightmares; and the politicians with the darkest fears became the most powerful.
President Obama has decided to send more than 30,000 extra troops to Afghanistan, at a cost of more than $100 billion/year to protect us frome these nightmares. But, we Americans cannot afford a war that does not make us safer.

These nightmares are just myths that have spread unquestioned through politics and the mainstream media; a fantasy that politicians found to restore their power and authority in a disillusioned age.
